half way there

Name:

This blog is called half way there because ever since we have had children, nothing ever gets completed. It has recently occurred to me that my walk with Christ, is not yet complete. Therefore I guess it applys to that too!

Matt 22:12 And he  said to him, Friend, how came you in here not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

I have always wondered why the King singled this person out.  I had always felt that none of the others at the banquet would have been rich enough for wedding garment so why was this person singled out.

Expositor’s Greek testament commentary – How did you come in without a garment?  Supposes the question is,  “By what way did you come in”, meaning how did you get in here without proper clothing, making the assumption that it was supplied to all who came in.  Did this man try to sneak in, trying to make it into heaven without putting on the righteous of Christ?  No one will be able to sneak into heaven. No one can sneak by God.  He sees all. He loves us each individually. Perhaps it also alludes to the fact that he was “attached” or clung to his old clothes the way that Lot’s wife clung to Sodom and Gomorrah, trying to keep hold of the old while trying to reach the new.  Perhaps, he was similar to the rich man who asked Christ, how do I get to heaven and Christ replied to sell all you have and the man went away sad because he was very rich.  You cannot hold on to both this world and Christ.  You must throw off the old and cling to the new.  You must become a new creature in Christ.  You must take a step further.

Lord lift me up and plant my feet on higher ground

Friday, November 10, 2006

This morning I have been praying hard about whether or not to pursue adoption of Sergey. I need guidance from the Lord. After hearing the threat of the enemy and suddenly Sergey comes into our lives, I am concerned for my family. When we adopted our sons 2.5 years ago, the Lord told me it would be just 2. I heard it and accepted it. I suppose he could have meant just 2 for now. I am so concerned. After I prayed, I turned on the Christian videos. The man was talking about Hebrews 11. That is "my" bible chapter. Anything can be achieved through faith. I suppose even bring a teenager into your home.

Lord, I pray for Sergey. Please bless him and help him to find a loving family to care for him and that he can care for. Please bring him someone that can put Christ in his heart so he knows he is not alone. Please put your hedge of protection around him and keep him safe. Help him to endure. In Jesus name. Amen.

On October 31st at about 4:00 am, I started to pray against the enemy. I prayed that those children who would be out that evening would be safe and that the enemy could not harm them . That he would not be able to use them . That his demons could not get to them. I also prayed that the innocent would be protected, that no harm would come to them. I prayed that no one could be used for evil purposes on this night. Suddenly, I felt threatened. In an instant, I had an overwhelming feeling that the enemy said "Oh really, and what about your family". In an instant, I knew my family was being threatened, because of my prayers. I immediately started praying about my family and home and for the Lord to put a hedge of protection around them. I also opened up my bible and started reading John. I was looking for the red letters quickly. The passages I came to was John 3:19-21, see below.

I have never had anything like this happen to me before. I always felt that I was praying to God. I never knew he could be eves dropping. I guess he did what he intended, because I stopped praying for others and started praying for my family. Due to a Bible study, I saw the following day, I realized I must press through by faith. I believe I must continue these prays of protection. I probably should encourage others to do so as well.

John 3, 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

Today I prayed for a word from the Lord to be given to me. The following passages were given to me Mark 5:22-23 and Hebrews 11-28. I don't understand how they are related.

Mark 5:22-23
22Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet 23and pleaded earnestly with him, "My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live."

Hebrews 7:11-28
11If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the law was given to the people), why was there still need for another priest to come—one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? 12For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law. 13He of whom these things are said belonged to a different tribe, and no one from that tribe has ever served at the altar. 14For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests. 15And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, 16one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. 17For it is declared: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek."
18The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless 19(for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
20And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath, 21but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: "The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: 'You are a priest forever.' " 22Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.
23Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”- 2 Corinthians 13:14

Psalm 118:6, The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

I woke up feeling fearful this morning. I don't know why. It is unnerving. I started praying and reading the bible and the Lord revealed the above passage to me. This Psalm has one of my favorite Bible verses. Verse 24 states: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

I know the Lord will be with me today and whatever happens, he will see me through.
